New-- Photos of America's Military in Action


My son, Sgt. Keenun Wright, is with the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion United States Marines. 

He is known here in Valdosta as "KC" by all his friends, and is stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA.

He is a 1992 graduate of Turner High School, Kansas City, Kansas.  He moved to Georgia the  same year. He was employed with Trus-Joist in Valdosta Ga when he joined the Corps. 

Keenun had just completed his second term and had only just signed up for four more years when he was sent to Kuwait. He is now in Baghdad with his unit, though I have not had any word from him since the start of the war. I am praying he is safe. 



SPC Eric Clark was deployed to Kuwait in January 2003.  He is a graduate of Lowndes High School in Valdosta, GA and was stationed in Ft. Benning, GA before his deployment.  

He is the son of William & Theresa Clark of Valdosta and is married to Qunita Clark.

Army Sergeant First Class, and Military Policeman Ronald R. Suber, was a former resident of Pavo. 

He Graduated from Thomas County Central High School in 1982.

He died in April, 2006.

 He was the son of Tommy & Hazel Suber, and was married to the former Cheryl Bishop of Thomasville. He had two daughters, Ashley and Alicia. 

Ronald joined the Army in August 1985. He has served in Germany, Korea, Egypt, Haiti and several areas in the United States. A veteran of Desert Storm, Ronald served his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Suber's wife and two daughters are currently residing in Fort Polk, LA. His entire family loved Ronald and are very proud of him and his service. We will always miss him. 


 

 

 


My grandson, Lance Corporal Nathan O'Neal, is posted aboard the U.S.S. Curtiss. 

He was deployed on January 22, but could not say where.

Dear WALB, This is one of my best friends Private First Class Quanita L. Nails. She is a 2001 graduate of Dougherty Comprehensive High School and joined the United States Army later that year. She is currently serving in Baghdad, Iraq. 

She is the daughter of Sharon Nails and SSGT Ricky Nails who is also in the Army serving in Baghdad, Iraq. She left for Iraq on January 1, 2003. This is her second time being deployed in the Middle East. 

She recently celebrated her 20th birthday on April 8. She is stationed on Ft. Stewart, Ga.

My name is Jacqueline Simmons and I am the mother of one of America's Bravest.  My son's name is Corporal Ronnie Simmons, Jr.,  a member of the United States Army.  

My son has served in Germany, Kosovo and is now stationed at Ft. Benning, GA.  He is presently in Iraq by way of Kuwait with the 608th ORD CO (special OPS RECON).  I heard from him on 5/1/03 to let his family know that he was okay. 

He graduated from Dougherty Comprehensive High School on June 6, 1997 and the very next day he left for basic training.  He has a 4-year-old son Darion who lives here in Albany.  

Also a sister Twyla and a niece Meah (Mia) who also lives in Albany. His father Ron Sr., who is a 23 year United States Marine Corps vet and a sister Shawnte'  who lives in Maryland.  

We (his family) ask that Ron Jr. and all the sons and daughters who are still in harms way be added to your prayer list.

My son, Charles Thomas, Jr. is the younger of my two sons. He graduated from Westover High in 1997, and joined the Army right out of school. He is stationed at Ft. Stewart, and left for Kuwait in January, but it seems like forever.

I really miss him, but he is strong and ambitious, and his strength keeps me strong.

America's Bravest Corey McAdoo is a native of Pitts, Ga. He joined the United States Marine Corps in July 2000. His permanent duty station is in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he serves as an Aviation and Supply Administrator. He deployed in August 2002 for a six months overseas. 

He is a member of the 24 th Marine Expeditionary Unit and was scheduled to arrive home in May, but his unit is extended indefinitely. 

Corey has a host of family and friends who long for the day he returns safe and we pray for the lives of all the troops serving our country.



PFC Quienton Davis is from Pelham, and is the son of Annie Stewart and Willie Davis. He is stationed in Kuwait, with the 2nd Supply Battalion, stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. He's a 2002 graduate of Pelham High.

He is a very well-rounded person, and he has 10 siblings.

We pray for his safe return.

I realized that awful deadline of March 17, when the president declared war on the regime of Saddam Hussein. 

My worst fears were coming true. My only son, Staff Sergeant and Platoon Leader Brett Miguel Swinson was to be deployed to the desert again. He was a Desert Storm vet, and served in Bosnia, and many other places in the middle east.

He is a Douglas native, and is the son of Regina Swinson Bennet, and John  and Claretta Marshall.

He is a 1990 graduate of Coffee County High School, and is married to Susie Swinson, with whom he has two children, Gabrielle and Dominique.

We are asking for prayers that he makes it home to Newport News, Virginia.



Staff Sergeant Annie Reddick is the daughter of the late Homer and Gussie Reddick of Arlington, Georgia. 

She is a 1990 graduate of Calhoun County High School and joined the Army in 1991. 

Annie has two sons, Stephone and Jacon. 

She left Fort Carson, Colorado in April, and is with the 4th Infantry Division.

PFC Teddy Kearney is with the 1148th National Guard Transportation Supply Convoy line, stationed at Ft. Benning. He left in April for Kuwait. He is the son of William and Mary Miller of Norman Park.

Teddy and his wife April live in Thomasville, and have four children. We all miss him and love him very much.

God bless the troops, and bring them all home safely.

Carlos is now a gunner with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, and was deployed to Iraq in January.

Tyrone Zachery Wallace Jr. is from Valdosta.
He joined the Army in 2003 because he wanted to travel and continue his education. He was station at Ft. Benning, and he was deported to Iraq in January. 

His Father: Tyrone Sr., Step Mother, Grandfather, Grandmother, also aunts, uncles and lots of other family and friends are very proud of me young man he has become. 

We are all praying for his safety and hope that he will return home soon.

Master Sergeant Thajauna Rhodes is an Ashburn native who graduated from Turner Co. High School in 1979. She joined the Army the same year.

She is the daughter of Hilda Hall of Ashburn.

Thajauna served in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, and now makes a career with the HHC 20th Support Group. 

In 1998, she graduated from Campbell University.



PFC Valerie Mann from Americus, is the daughter of Linda Mann and Robert Berry. 

Valerie ran track in high school, and then joined the service after graduation.

She serves the Army in Kuwait.

Her family prays for her safe return, and asks for everyone's prayers. Her mother and family loves her very much.



Private Shelton Gaines, Sr., is 24-years-old. He is married to Sherrice, and the couple has a son, Shelton, Junior, who is four.

They are stationed at Eustis, Florida. Shelton joined the Army to better his education, and the lives of his family members.

Lance Corporal Christopher Hensley graduated from Mitchell-baker High in 2001, and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He serves with the 2nd C.E.B., from Camp Lejeune, NC. He has a 4-month-old daughter named Madison, and his wife's name is Jessica. 

His brother, Lance Corporal Clinton Pilkey, serves in the Marines Corps also.

We love and miss him very much, and pray for his safe return.

Jamie Gandy is with the 3rd Infantry Division, based at Ft. Stewart. 

He deployed in November. 

We last heard from Jamie three weeks ago, when he was in Baghdad. 

He celebrated his 20th birthday on May 5th, only his third birthday away from home.



SPC. Terry Henderson is with the 3rd Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division, serving in Iraq. He celebrated his birthday on Easter Sunday. He is a 1994 graduate of Valdosta High.

His family prays for him daily.

Marine Corps Corporal Jesse B. Eason is assigned to the First Marine Div., 18th Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California. Jesse is serving in Iraq, in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jesse is 23 years old, and is a 1998 graduate of Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia.

SPC. Mary Elizabeth Powers is the daughter of Paul and Rose Mary Powers of Adel. She is serving in Kuwait.

We love her very much, and hopes she returns home soon.

Twenty-two-year-old Sgt. Brandon Barfield joined the Army in 2001, and is stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. 

He is serving in Iraq, with the 4th Field Artillery Unit. 

He has a large and extended family who loves him very much.



Maurice Stewart is a 2002 graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School. He is stationed Yakota, Japan, aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, which is serving in the Persian Gulf.I am very proud of my son, and miss him so much. I haven't talked to him in several weeks, but he was fine then, and said hello to everyone who knows him.

SSG Tracey Laster's family lives in Sylvester. She is stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, by way of Mississippi. 

She moves tanks from place to place, and is in charge of 12 soldiers in her unit.

Her family loves her, and wants to see her home soon!


Antwan J. Clay is a graduate of Dougherty High School, Class of 2000. 

He is currently serving somewhere in the Persian Gulf.

His mother is Deloris Brown, or Albany.





Spc. Demond Gardner of Dawson is He's a radio operator in the 315 Infantry, stationed in Kuwait.

His family in Dawson,  Valdosta, and Jacksonville is praying that he is safe and will soon be home.
